The key(words) to success
When our long time client Marina baratashvilli asked for a SEO reassessment, we were more than happy to elevate her already growing business.
THE PROBLEM:
There are many Marinas in New York City (and we are not talking about boats). Coincidentally, many of them offer services related to massages and physiotherapy. This fact unveiled the challenge at hand: Make Marina’s business more prominent in the search results.
As part of our web development service at the time, some basic SEO optimizations were put to work at her site. That included the creation of a “Google My business” account. But since her business phone number was available to the public, it soon evolved into a calling nightmare.
THE GOAL:
Increase business visibility in search results, fine tune keywords strategy and get rid of those pesky phone calls.
THE STRATEGY:
1- We delved into customer testimonials and the (only) 5 reviews that the business had on Google, looking for similarities in their wording and way of expressing themselves about their experience. Expressions like “life-changing results,” words like “energy” , healer,” and terms like “lymphatic drainage” became the keywords that shaped our strategy.
2- We analyzed the keywords that, over time, drove the most traffic to the website and noted that the most successful were followed by “NY” or “NYC”, so we changed the website title; Marina Massages Theraphy” became “Marina Massages NYC.”
3-Last but not least, we optimized the “bookings” section of the website so it will be more relevant in search results. Then we proceeded to delete the phone number from the Google business account.
THE RESULTS:
New customer bookings were growing exponentially. Google Business profile interactions and website clicks went from 30 to 200+ in the first month, reviews increased organically, and the number of “people asking for directions” went up by 45%, raising brand awareness along with better website reputation and search rank.
THE CONCLUSION:
Focusing on user intent (a.k.a., what the user wants) is always beneficial for raising brand awareness and attracting new customers organically.
…And that’s the way the cookie crumbles, guys.
– Cheers.
